Developing organic agriculture in the Kyrgyz Republic

On August 11 this year, a regional seminar was held in Talas

August 11, 2022 the Federation of Organic Development BIO-KG, with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN FAO), held a regional seminar “about Organic Aimak” in Kopuro-Bazar and Taldy-Bulak organic aimaks of Talas district.

This seminar was attended by representatives from the Department of Organic Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, from the Department of Biosphere Protection under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, from the implementation of agricultural projects under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, from the food and agricultural organization of the UN. The seminar was also attended by sales managers from trading companies “Frunze” and “Eco-Farm”, the head of the agricultural department of the authorized representative office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Talas oblast, experts on land issues from 37 aiyl okmot (districts), farmers of organic aimaks, representatives of the media.

The aim of the regional seminar was to familiarize with the “Organic aimak model” on the example of the works done in Kopuro-Bazar and Taldy-Bulak organic aimaks.

The participants of the seminar initially received information in the form of a report “About Organic aimak”, then got acquainted with the implementation of the practical part in the field.

During the regional seminar with the report “about the model of organic aimak” made by the program coordinator for organic agriculture BIO-KG Federation of Organic Development Mayrambek Boronbaev, described in detail in the report on the procedures of the organization of the organic aimak and the activities carried out within its framework.

Sultan Sarygulov, Traditional Knowledge Coordinator of the Federation, in his report “about the creation of the atlas of biodiversity of the organic aimak” presented the results of conducted research of the organic aimak and explained the purpose of creating the atlas of biodiversity.

The head of Aydaralievskiy ayil өkmөtү M. Niyasaliev speaking with the report “about strategic plans for the organic development of R. Aydaralievskiy ayil өkmөtү”, touched on issues of mutual cooperation with the FOD BIO-KG on the development of organic aimaks, noting that the ayil өkmөtү in its development chose organic development, presented plans for the development of agriculture, cattle and fish farming on an organic basis.

In a practical part of the regional seminar participants listened to the report of the coordinator of Kopuro-Bazar organic aimak – Temir uulu Bekkul about the work done in the organic region and familiarized with the handicraft works of the team, headed by the master of the village Jumalieva Munarkan.

In the practical part of the seminar, participants visited the plot of farmer Baimatov Avtan and got acquainted with the work on cultivation of medicinal herbs, on organization of nursery farm, biodiversity in crop production and on installation and use of drip irrigation system, use of drying devices, with actions on breeding chickens in the incubator. In addition, we witnessed the work done by the farmer Kanybek Altymyshov on the production of biohumus and tried out the grown organic products.

The practical part of the seminar continued in Taldy-Bulak organic aimak, the seminar participants got acquainted with the state of work on the development of national traditions and folk craftsmanship on the plot of organic farmer Dootkulov Kaichybek, the development of tunnel greenhouses and organization of nursery farm. In addition, they witnessed an exhibition in order to present national values and folk craftsmanship from the society of organic aimak.

During the discussion on the final part of the Talas oblast seminar “About Organic Aimak”, held on August 11, 2022 in the villages Kopuro-Bazar and Taldy-Bulak in Talas rayon, participants praised the work carried out in the organic aimak and made a proposal for the introduction of “organic aimak” in Talas oblast. As a result of the discussion, it was decided to send a special appeal “On the promotion of organic aimak” to the regional and district executive authorities and local governments.
